A stroll around Eindhoven during Dutch Design Week
This weekend, we explored Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, the design event in the Netherlands that showcases projects and creations by local designers, studios, schools and brands.
We focused particularly on Eindhoven’s Strijp-S and Strijp-R districts. A real change of scenery! These former industrial areas have been transformed into residential neighbourhoods where nature seems to be reclaiming its place. They are also thriving creative hubs, where design, art, media, technology and entrepreneurship come together in a lively atmosphere. Dutch Design Week has made its home here, with a variety of exhibitions showcasing all kinds of creative projects.
We were particularly charmed by Piet Hein Eek’s workshops. Here, furniture is made from leftover wood using traditional craftsmanship, giving each piece a strong and distinctive identity. It’s a magical place that also houses a shop and a hotel-restaurant, all embracing the spirit of upcycling and reuse. Visitors can even see the production workshops. All in all, a truly inspiring outing!

As we wandered around, we came across some real little gems, such as these magnetic tubes that attach to clothing and hold a flower. A colourful trivet inspired by a manhole cover, salad servers in coloured glass, and some beautiful woven wall hangings by Paper Collective.
